Kids With Asthma And H1n1

I have always heard this and it seems so unfair to all the kids out there. When my son was diagnosed with asthma, I was told by the doctor that we had to remove our pets from the house. I was not about to do that. Kids With Asthma And H1n1I mean, I would have if it meant my son would be better, but I just didn’t believe that for some reason. Now I am no doctor, and what I say here is only my own opinion, so if you are thinking you will follow my advice , I advise you to check with a doctor. You see, what works for me, may not work for you.

I decided to get an air purifier. In fact I got two air purifiers. One to put in my sons room and a bigger one for the rest of the house. I did this because my son was tested for allergies, and just as I suspected, he was allergic to everything. So I reasoned if he was allergic to everything, why get rid of the pet? I would still have all the rest of the allergens to worry about. It didn’t seem that just getting rid of a dog would make a huge difference.

The air purifiers seemed logical to me. I figured removing some of the allergens from the house was a very logical step to improve my son’s asthma symptoms. I think it was especially important to have the one in his bedroom running all the time. If you think about how much time a kid spends sleeping, you can quickly see how important it would be to breathe clean air while sleeping.

I purchased two HEPA air purifiers back then, and this was about 15 years ago. Air purifiers have improved so much since then. For example, the whole line of Blueair air purifiers perform so much better than those of 15 years ago. The Blueair 501 captures 99.97% of the tiniest 0.1 micron particles, which includes dust , mold, and pet dander. Some of these particles are small enough to pass the cilia in our nose and sinus, too small to exhale easily, and these particles can be the cause of a wide range of respiratory and other illnesses.

Whether you get a Blueair or some other system, my experience says it helps to put one in the bedroom of your asthmatic child and if your like me, you don’t have to get rid of the dog.
